Spice up Your Pancakes

We wish every mom out there, a very happy mother's day. Nothing can be
enough to thank you for what you do for us.

This year I planned to do something special on mother's day, so, here it goes. We are going to post our first recipe on Love In Nutshell and I start with, a recipe that I learned from my mom. This is dedicated to every mom out there.

Pancakes are generally made sweet in taste. But, my mom's pancakes always tasted just the opposite. So, this time I tried to decode her recipe and add some spices of my own. Checkout the recipe:

Spicy  Pancakes Recipe

Time: 20 mins.                  Serves- 2 


  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 medium onions chopped
  • 1/2 red bell pepper cut into very small cubes
  • 1/2 green bell pepper cut into very small cubes
  • 1 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder/red chili flakes
  • black pepper powder (optional)
  • salt to taste
  • oil for frying


  1.  Sieve the flour into a bowl and add salt and pepper.
  2.  Add the milk and mix.
  3.  The mixture should have a thick consistency. If it becomes thin then add more flour to make it thicker.
  4.  Add the ginger and garlic paste, red chili powder, eggs and mix well.

  5.  Add the onions, red bell peppers and green bell peppers. mix again to prepare the final batter.

  6.  Add oil in the frying pan, put some batter, spread it evenly and cook both sides.
  7.  Your spicy pancakes are ready. Serve with any sauce of your choice.
